Victoria University (VU) is a dual-sector university, based in Melbourne. It is one of the few Australian universities that provides higher education as well as vocational education and training. In 2016, VU celebrates its centenary, with a rich history dating back to the opening of Footscray Technical School in 1916. As well as undergraduate degrees and postgraduate coursework and research degrees, VU offers short courses, apprenticeships, certificates and diplomas. Flexible learning pathways allow students to design their own study journey, entering from various points and exiting when they’ve reached their goals. VU is the University of Opportunity and Success, committed to delivering an outstanding learning experience that empowers students from diverse backgrounds to grow their capabilities and transform their lives. Among VU’s distinguishing features are strong connections to industry and the community. These connections to the world of work allow courses to be shaped to match current industry needs so VU students graduate work-ready. VU has several campuses in Melbourne’s CBD and western suburbs, and one campus in Sydney. It also offers courses at partner institutions throughout Asia, including China, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. More than 47,000 students, including 15,000 international students, studied VU courses worldwide in 2014.
