The Victoria University was founded in 1916 as the Footscray Technical School and later established as Victoria University in 1990. There are more than 45,000 students currently enrolled that include 8500 international students. The university also includes TAFE courses in the curricula. It operates out of 11 locations in and around the city of Melbourne; the chief campus is the VU Footscray Park branch. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Students at the Victoria University are offered accommodation in a common residential complex in Maribyrnong, a few kilometres from Melbourne city centre.
