James Cook University was established in 1970. With campuses in Townsville and Cairns, smaller study centres in Mount Isa, Thursday Island, and Mackay, and a larger campus in Brisbane. The University offers a wide variety of courses ranging from alternate university pathways courses to postgraduate research courses. There are specialised courses for indigenous students as well.
