The International Film School Sydney (IFSS), founded in August 2005, is the home of daring cinema in Australia.  The School demands that its students are ‘fearless’.  IFSS is a fully accredited and registered training organisation that offers a hands-on, comprehensive education detailing every aspect of cinema-making. The course is carefully designed by veteran industry staff and provides a practical experience that emulates worldwide industry practice. Students specialise in screenwriting, directing and producing, as well as streams of cinematography, sound and editing.

The School aims to deliver the most comprehensive and future focused learning environment possible. To achieve this, training and classes are held in a diversity of environments both at the School’s custom-designed facilities, and on location during production periods. The School also holds an industry event each year to showcase student work.

The School is located in the heart of Sydney at 27 Rosebery Avenue, Rosebery, about 5 km from Sydney's city centre. It is also close to Fox Studios and many great filming locations. The School offers an ambience congenial for students to explore their creative niche. Students acquire a feel of international cinema through a host of diverse cinemas, theatres, museums, galleries as well as many film festivals and events.

The School comprises teachers who are experienced and practising film makers. They train students to become internationally recognised, creative, innovative and exceptionally skilled and talented individuals for the global film industry. The staff have a great expertise in all aspects of cinema ranging from script-edition, production, sound, cinematography, motion graphics, 3D, animation, live-events, online media, photography, radio, fiction, documentary, production design, camera and lighting to developing, contracting and packaging projects, to budgeting, scheduling and managing all facets of production, through to marketing films to an international audience. Lecture style presentations, practical workshops and one-on-one consultancy are the different modes of class delivery.

The students would be given a highly structured orientation to the School, its training, assessments and student support services, living and studying at Sydney, medical and legal services et al. Students can download the domestic student information pack on the IFSS website.
